Armpatch Tutorial

The first thing you have to do remove the "read only" attribute from your existing armpatches in the armpatch folder. You should also remove the "read only" attribute from the armpatch folder itself. The second thing to do is create the image. The image should be perfectly square and I recommend making a 120x120 pixel canvas size, which will give you a good size canvas to work with. Place whatever you want inside the context of the image and when you are finished, resize the image to 32x32 pixels (this is a necessary step). Make sure to have your image created using the RGB color palette (or convert it to RGB if you have to). After creating your image, resize it to 32x32 pixels and save your image. Save your image as a bitmap (*.BMP)!!

Now you have to convert your image to the standard Rogue Spear image file, the RSB file. You can download this file BMP to RSB from the download section of this site.

NOTE: your pictures must be 24 bit in order to be converted to RSB. Now run this program and convert your file to an RSB file type. The program is self explanatory. If you have not skipped any steps, or added any new ones for that matter, you should receive nothing but a new *.RSB file. Now copy this file to your RS\data\armpatch directory. All you have to do now is configure Rogue Spear to use your armpatch.

Installing your armpatch, and configuring it is straight forward. Place your armpatch in the RS\data\armpatch directory. Make sure that is has a name of the following format: armpatchX.rsb where X is a number ranging from 1 to 20 (ie. armpatch17.rsb or armpatch2.rsb). Rogue Spear can only handle 20 armpatches in the armpatch directory at once, but keep in mind that there is no conflict with overwriting the default armpatches. Those can be deleted and overwritten anytime.

Now that your armpatch is in the armpatches directory and file is named correctly you have to configure your armpatch from within Rogue Spear. Start up Rogue Spear, and then click on the Options button. Then proceed to click on the MP Game button. At this menu, make sure that armpatches are enabled by checking the armpatch box. Then you can cycle through all the armpatches in your armpatch directory by hitting the forward and back buttons located on either side of the armpatch depicted. That's it, you're finished.

NOTE: If your armpatch does not appear when you cycle throught the available armpatches the armpatch file is either not present in the Rogue Spear\data\armpatch directory, or it is named incorrectly.
